week 1 reflection

Over the first week of senior project at the Country Club of New Hampshire, I gained valuable experience and knowledge about various aspects of working at a golf course. Throughout the week, I was mentored by Joe and Karl, who taught me the ropes and showed me different responsibilities. During the first two days, I focused on learning about the driving range and cart maintenance. I practiced hitting balls at the driving range and then picked and washed the range balls. I also learned how to clean golf carts, put up umbrellas, and ensure the smooth flow of play on the course. On the second day, I delved deeper into cart maintenance, cleaning all the carts, and checking for battery corrosion. I also assisted golfers by cleaning their carts and plugging them in.

On the third day, the workload shifted as it was a slow day at the course. I worked with Joe to organize and clean rental clubs, ensuring each bag had the correct number of clubs. I also tackled the task of organizing numerous miscellaneous clubs left on the course, and categorizing them based on their loft. The fourth and fifth days remained relatively quiet, with fewer golfers. I continued cart maintenance, checking battery terminals for corrosion and replacing broken windshields. I also assisted early morning golfers by helping them with their clubs, washing carts, and ensuring they were properly plugged in.

Despite encountering some setbacks, such as the range cart being in maintenance and not being able to assist with welding, I persisted in the tasks and wrapped up the days by practicing my own golf skills at the driving range. Overall, I gained hands-on experience in various aspects of working at a golf course, from driving range operations to cart maintenance and customer service. I learned the importance of attention to detail, organization, and maintaining a high level of service for club members and guests. My exposure to different tasks provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the operations and responsibilities involved in managing a golf course.

Today was the eighth day of senior project at Country Club of New Hampshire. It was cold and overcast today so there were not to many golfers going out this morning. I started off the day by organizing some carts and making the kind of carts look pretty. I then helped Karl pick some range balls and clean them. Karl and I then went into the woods boarding the range and picked out as many balls as we could. After that, the course pro Derek asked me if I wanted to go out and play on the course so I took him up on that. On the course, I really focused on smart shots and not taking unnecessary risky shots. This affected my score for the better but I felt like I played worse. 5 hours today, 36 total hours.

week 2 reflection

During this week's five days at the Country Club of New Hampshire, I gained valuable insights and developed various skills related to golf course operations. In the first three days, I  focused on tasks such as range maintenance, cart organization, and equipment management. I learned the importance of keeping the range clean by removing divots and picking up balls. I also became familiar with the process of moving and organizing carts to ensure an efficient flow. Additionally, I was introduced to the responsibilities associated with managing the rental clubs, organizing them properly, and sorting the miscellaneous clubs in the old pro shop. These experiences enhanced my understanding of the behind-the-scenes operations at the club.  On the fourth day, I had the opportunity to deal with customer service-related challenges. I addressed complaints from golfers about slow play and effectively resolved the dispute. This experience highlighted the importance of effective communication an
